GoMids.com Players of the Week

Posted Nov 2, 2010

Navy fell to 5-3 as they lost to Duke on Homecoming in Annapolis, 34-31. Each week GoMids.com recognizes a top offensive player, defensive player and an unsung hero. Look inside to find out which players GoMids.com honors this week.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

WR Greg Jones

Jones was the prime beneficiary to Navy's 24-0 halftime deficit, as he had 9 catches for 134 yards and a touchdown. The nine receptions are the most by a Navy player since Josh Bock caught nine passes for 119 yards and a TD against Tulane on Nov. 11, 2000.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

LB Caleb King

Starting for the first time since the Louisiana Tech game, King turned in a career-high 10 tackles. His previous high was four stops against Louisiana Tech.

UNSUNG HEROES OF THE WEEK

None

It's hard to identify an "unsung hero" when a team falls behind 24-0 at halftime and eventually loses. So there isn't one this week.

NOTE: No player can be named POTW more than three times during a season. Players also cannot be named POTW for two consecutive games.
