GoMids.com Players of the Week

Posted Nov 9, 2010

Navy became Poinsettia Bowl-eligible as they trounced East Carolina in Greenville, N.C., 76-35. Each week GoMids.com recognizes a top offensive player, defensive player and an unsung hero. Look inside to find out which players GoMids.com honors this week.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

QB Ricky Dobbs

It's hard to single just one player out, but Dobbs seemed to make the correct read on Saturday. Dobbs rushed for 100 yards on 17 carries (1 TD) and was also 6 of 8 passing for 75 yards and 2 TD's.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

LB Tyler Simmons

Simmons had his third huge game in a row, racking up a career-high 17 tackles and also recovering two fumbles. Simmons has 44 tackles in the last three games.

UNSUNG HEROES OF THE WEEK

K Jon Teague

Teague was an amazing 12 for 12 in his placekicking duties on Saturday. He was 10-for-10 on extra points and also made two field goals from 38 and 20 yards out. He has filled in quite well for the injured Joe Buckley.

NOTE: No player can be named POTW more than three times during a season. Players also cannot be named POTW for two consecutive games.
