A tough linebacking corps is important for any team's defense. The Navy staff netted a talented, hard hitting group of linebackers in the 2012 recruiting class. Look inside to find out more about these future Midshipmen and see them in action.

Nnamdi Uzoma is a projected linebacker from Knightdale in North Carolina. Uzoma played mostly defensive end in high school. He offers good size being six foot three inches tall and weighing in at 220 pounds. Uzoma is a good athlete with 4.68 speed and quickness. In high school he demonstrated excellent range.

Nick McCrory (6-0, 215) was a very productive undersized linebacker for Calhoun high school in Texas. He had a tremendous senior year posting 145 tackles, making 19 tackles behind the line of scrimmage and recorded 12 sacks. He also showed the ability to drop in coverage and intercepted two passes, broke up another five and scored six touchdowns on defense. He was his area's Defensive Player of the Year and earned First-team All-state honors at linebacker.

Tyler Goble is a 6-1, 220 pound Mike linebacker from Plymouth high school in Michigan. Goble was a three star rated recruit after his impressive showing at national combines before his senior season. He was rated a top performer at the Midwest Elite Camp and was second team all-combine at the U.S. Army Junior Combine. During his impressive senior season, Goble made 138 tackles, 28 for a loss, posted six sacks and picked off a pass. Goble is tough, smart, instinctive linebacker who reads plays quickly and can stuff the run inside. Tyler made plays from sideline to sideline. His initial commitment was to Bowling Green where his brother plays but he had a change of heart. Despite his combine performances Goble's lack of height, relative to the position, caused most Big ten schools to pass on him. In addition to offers from Navy and Bowling Green, Tyler drew offers from Citadel, Eastern Michigan, Harvard and Princeton.

Zach Hester (6-2, 217) was an All-State linebacker from Boyle county high school in Kentucky. Despite receiving strong interest from Arkansas, Zach was one of the earlier commits for Navy last summer. Hester led Boyle during his senior season in tackles with 179, made three interceptions and had three fumble recoveries. As a running back on offense he produced 862 total yards and 10 touchdowns.

Ryan Harris is a 5-11, 210 pound linebacker from Mission Viejo High School in California. He was a product of a very good high school program. A quick but undersized All-County linebacker, Harris posted 69 tackles, a sack and an interception last fall.

Daniel Bostick (6-1, 215) is a linebacker from John Carroll high school in Alabama. During his senior year Bostick made 118 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, posted five sacks, forced four fumbles, recovered three and picked off a pass. On special teams he blocked three field goal attempts and one punt. Bostick, who was named First Team All-Metro, chose the Mids over offers from Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina and Savannah State.

Josiah Powell is a 6-3, 200 pound linebacker from Madisonville, Kentucky. During his season year he made 70 tackles and one fumble recovery. He chose Navy over Air Force and Princeton.
