Georgia DB likes Navy
"I've talked to [secondary coach] Buddy Green. They offered me at free safety, but think I can play down safety or cornerback. I'm going to be talking to Coach Ingram soon about taking a visit this fall."
Mack is in his second year as a starter for the Wesleyan Wolves. Last year he played predominately at safety but as a senior he's moved to cornerback to utilize his one-on-one cover skills.
"In the Stone Mountain game," Mack said, "they had a 6-(foot)-5 wide receiver who they wanted me to play man on. He didn't make any catches on us, so they decided to keep me there permanently. It's been a new experience, but fun. I've definitely improved on rotating my hips to move more fluidly and breaking on the ball. I'm also playing a little wide receiver. I do it all."
In addition to Navy, Mack has received offers from Buffalo, Chattanooga, Elon, Furman, Richmond, and South Florida. He said he'll need a couple of months to sort it out before he's ready to make a commitment.
"This weekend I'm going to Richmond for the Old Dominion game," he said. "I'm going to make a couple more visits then I'm going to be ready to decide in the next month or two. I'm looking for a great academic schools with a successful athletic program. I want to be in a place that feels like home where I can have a good social life while I'm going to college."
After the season, Mack will play basketball and track and field. He's holds the school record in the triple jump and is very close to setting the school record in the 100 meter dash.
Since their opening one point loss to Holy Innocents Episcopal, Wesleyan has reeled off three consecutive victories. This week the Wolves travel to Louisville, Ga. to face Jefferson County.
