Midway through the 2012 season, what players have stood out?
Liberty got the ball first and went right to work, scoring on a Connor Masood TD run. 6-0.
PV got the ball at their own 2 and managed to move the ball to midfield but turned the ball over on downs. QB Tyler Rogers hit Chad Bennett on a 30 yard yard score and then found Brandon Murphy in the endzone to build the lead to 12-0. Two point conversion was no good.
Paradise Valley was able to put together a long drive that ate much of the clock in the second quarter and got on the board on a Ryan Finley to Brendon Best TD pass with 2:30 eft in the half. 12-7.
Liberty got on the board one more time before the half on a Rogers TD pass. 18-7 at the half.
PV gor the ball to open the half and marched down the field on a 7 minute drive and scored on a Devon Graffis TD run that cut the score to 18-14.
The final minutes of the third were crazy. Liberty answered quickly on a Brandon Murphy TD run. PV fumbled the ball on their next drive, Liberty recovered and Murphy would score again. Lightning then struck twice, PV fumbled again and this time Masood scored. The score at the end of the third was now 39-14.
PV scored twice in the 4th to Liberty's one score but the game was never in question.
Final 46-28 Liberty advances to 2nd round of the playoffs.
This game was close until the 3 minute point in the 3rd quarter and then the doors blew off for Paradise Valley. Having just completed a 7 minute drive to make the score 18-14, Liberty answered with a 30 second score. Then PV fumbled the ball on their next two possessions and Liberty scored both times. So the game went from 18-14 with 3 minutes left in the 3rd to 39-14 by the end of the 3rd quarter.
Will hand out three. One to Rogers, one to Murphy and one to Masood.
