Navy defeated Texas State 21-10 on Senior Day at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium. GoMids.com's Alison Althouse was there and compiled this special photo story of the game's pre-game activities and first quarter.
The first of three game captains was Brye French (#50), pictured here with his family and sponsor.
Second game captain was Jonathan Gazaille (#89), pictured here with his family.
Third game captain for today was Bo Snelson (#4), pictured here with his parents.
Bringing in the flags were three more of our amazing senior class! L-R: Wes Henderson (#99), Josh Dowling-Fitzpatrick (#59) and Keegan Wetzel (#48).
In the first play of the game, Noah Copeland (#34) gets 7 yards around the side before being stopped by Texas State’s #31 (Joplo Bartu).
Geoffrey Whiteside (#29) rushes for 14 yards for another Navy First Down.
Former Navy RB Marcus Curry (Texas State #28) rushes for 10 yards but is brought down short of the first down by Parrish Gaines (#2), causing Texas State to punt.
Noah Copeland (#34) rushes for 15 yards and puts the first points on the board with his touchdown. After Nick Sloan’s successful PAT, the score is Navy 7, Texas State 0.
It was Scout Day – scouts from far and wide were in attendance for this great day of Navy football!
Colin Amerau’s kickoff was returned by Texas State’s #80 (Jafus Gaines) but stopped by senior John O’Boyle at the 26 yard line.
Keenan Reynolds (#19) rushes 11 yards (stopped by #18, Xavier Daniels) for another Navy First Down at the Navy 43.
Keenan Reynolds’ pass to Noah Copeland is incomplete on 3rd and 8.
In the final play of the first quarter, Texas State’s #28 (Marcus Curry) is brought down by Paul Quessenberry (#45). End of the 1st quarter: Navy 7, Texas State 0.
