Navy completed 10 of 15 passes for 164 yards
and no interceptions. This was a good enough
performance that should have allowed Navy to win the
game.
RUSHING OFFENSE
A-
Navy picked up 342 yards and 19 first downs
rushing. Adam Ballard and Eric Kettani each had over
90 yards rushing. The one blemish that likely cost
the Mids the game was the two fumbles. That said, the
offense played well enough to win; almost perfect.
You rely on your defense to pick up some turnovers
against the opposition and this didn't happen.
PASSING DEFENSE
F
Total failure. Joe Flacco completed 30 of 41 passes for 431
yards and 4 touchdowns. Navy did manage to sack him
twice.
RUSHING DEFENSE
D-
While most of the damage that Delaware dealt
Navy was through the air, that wasn't because Navy has
a great rushing defense. Navy allowed Omar Cuff to
pick up 141 yards and score 4 touchdowns on 28
carries.
SPECIAL TEAMS
A
Joey Bullen kicked a field goal and came two yards short of completing a touchdown pass but Navy scored on the next
play. Reggie Campbell racked up a staggering 173 yards
in kickoff returns, which is good but not really good
in the big picture.
COACHING
C
This one can't be blamed on the coaching. They
did everything they could like putting in trick plays
and going for it on fourth down (3 of 4 times
successful). They'll have this team ready for Notre Dame.
OVERALL GRADE
C
No one likes losing to a lower division team
but Delaware could probably beat half of the Bowl
Subdivision teams. The team will have to pick
themselves up fast and get ready for a talented but struggling Notre Dame team. Navy has an excellent chance of ending the that long losing streak to the Irish.
