Finished the season as Utah's leading rusher and scorer with 185 carries for 2,258 yards (12.2 ypc) and 34 touchdowns. 2009 Honors included: Utah All-State Class 3A Most Valuable Player by the Deseret News; First Team All-State Class 3A RB; Region 10 MVP; Utah State Leading Rusher; Utah State Leading Scorer.
As a 2008 junior, Chynoweth scored 13 touchdowns, rushed for 1326 yards on 189 carries. As a safety he recorded 38 tackles with 1 interception and 1 sack. On special teams he had 6 kickoff returns for 270 yards with a 45 yard average. He had a 93 and 91 yard return for touchdowns in one game.
Chynoweth earned 1st Team All State/Deseret News, 1st Team All State/Salt Lake Tribune and was awarded Region 10 MVP (Offense). At the 2008 UA/Scout Combine in Oakland he was named to the All Combine Team (1st team running back). He earned MVP (Combine King) at the NUC combine in Boise, ID. He also received the outstanding Running Back and Defensive Back awards at the 2008 Navy football Camp.
