Top Georgia lineman talks Navy offer
"I'm very interested in Navy. I'm glad the offer finally came. The military would open up a lot of opportunities for me and give me a chance to serve my country. It felt good to receive the offer, like I had finally made it. I'm high on Navy, but I'm still open, right now, to all offers."
Taylor has some very nice offers from Air Force, Bucknell, Cincinnati, Furman, Georgia State, and Georgia Southern, but would like to figure things out in the next few months.
"I'd like to make a final decision by the end of the summer," he said. "I'm looking to find a school with a solid major. Right now I'm leaning towards Pre-Med, but that could change. I'm not overly concerned with distance. Annapolis is a good ways away from home even though it's on the east coast, but that wouldn't be a determining factor for me.
"As far as football, I've played a wide-range of schemes since the eighth grade. I've mainly played in a pro-style offense but we'll be running a spread at Wesleyan this year. I just want to go to a good program with good coaches."
As a junior, Taylor was named Gwinnett County Player of the Month for October 2013. His team, the Wolves, just went 2-8 on the season, but Taylor says they're looking "fantastic" in spring ball.
"I thought that I did well last season," Taylor stated. "I showed growth, not just in size, but also with my production. There's still a good threshold there for me to improve and keep getting better."
Taylor has long been interested in Navy, participating in the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps. He will serve as a Senior Captain for the Wolves for the 2014 season.
